I tried some different renders of an exploded version of the post below, with some varied results. I quite liked these from the batch. Just need to make them start moving now!

If my piece was a faded 1970's show logo, it would look a bit like this.

Before it went all streamlined and minimal the Advanced Mechanics logo looked like the image above, I found it on a box of bulbs in the store room of the space station where me an Lyken are making constructs. At the time the company was owned by the Russians, before being taking over by a giant American/Russian corporation Bindustries in 2014.

For the Haunted Graffiti show at Recoat, Lyken has been working over time designing and painting a bunch of canvas's with his satellite space letters, his method for making them is very particular and I've been trying to find a style that will compliment them. So I came up with the image above as a starting point, based off a 3d model that was distorted and turned into a mechanised weapon letter. What a load of gibberish I talk...
Pretty chuffed with the Advanced Mechanics logo, they are a company that produces robot mecha letters and hyper armour rocket machine gun weaponry, as you do.

I've been trying to make some animations forever, but might actually have a job soon that offers the resource and time to actually make something, with a mix of celshaded 3d and a lot of hand-drawn elements it could be okay. The animation above was an attempt to get a 'look'. It still amazes me that I can input images into a computer and render them in a 3 dimensional space moving around.

George Pratt - Inking

-
I just listened to the second part of George Pratt's podcast interview on SideBar and am going to listen to it again right now. The part about Mississippi John Hurt is really incredible.

The Ballad of Hollis Brown - Bob Dylan

-
I love this song, as relevant as it ever was in today's financially broken times, just people have a different type of hunger. I actually got the Nina Simone version yesterday, sounds a bit like a country version of Sinnerman.

'Your spent your last lone dollar on seven shotgun shels...'

Been really geeking on the robot mechanised type stuff lately, It's a very random process, but it's also quite fluid and fast from roughs to completion. I've used similar images as digital sketches for real life paintings and it's been pretty interesting as a result, some have been resigned to the bin as a result. The image is made from video camera parts, reworked a few times.
-
Although it's completely unrelated I have been listening to a great podcast interview between the Sidebar guys and George Pratt, it's a really interesting look into his life and he talks in depth about his friendship with crazy good artists like Kent Williams and Barron Storey, it's only part one and can be downloaded here. Good for the early morning coffee wake up.

Small Shopfolio

I have put a bunch of my drawings for sale on my site, 24 in total. the prices are varied from £50 up. I'm still working on putting the prices by the buttons, at the moment you have to click the thumbnails to view the price in the full preview.
I had a few emails about where to buy some of my drawings so hopefully this will help. I'll delete any that sell and upload new one's in time.

Started to do the outlines with a skinny brush instead of a pen. I reckon the bottom one is what Elektra would look like if she played Roller Derby. Got a lot of non computer work to do the next month or so so bloggery might be limited. Should have some big paintings done though which is a bonus.

T posters

I did a bit of writing for some posters that were displayed at T in the Park, Mighty Small put them together, it was quite mad seeing them blown up gigantic about the place.

More machine drawings, yep, I know the 'L' looks like a knob.
Started as a watercolour fillin, but had to save it on the computer as it came out a muddy mess.

District 9 [HD]

Can't wait to see this, should be amazing. I really like how the shots look real as opposed to Transformerish.

Rough Cut Nation

-
This is a sketch from the walls of the National Portrait gallery, we were painting in there the other day at a meeting for the exhibition in August. This was the first time I tried out using a non aerosol spray to do the rough lines with acrylics, it's a wee bit messier than using spraypaint but I was liking the drips. Cheers to Sat-One for helping me out with that!

Splash a aaaaah.

-
Finished the splash page, just need to build the rest. Anybody who was mad enough to join the mailing list will get an email when to preview the site and slag me off for being bad at web design.

T in dawoing Park.

-
The sketch here, got a bit smaller as space was tight, it was strange working in a circle too, but good for adding details. I used this a base for the sketch, it was a random shape experiment to make lettering.
-
It's weird being in a festival site, before it actually is on, the scale and emptiness is weird. Cheers to Recoat for getting me along.

Sort of went a bit mecha-alien on this, the arms are pretty rubbish, but I like some of the parts.
Also made the glow in the dark version here.
-
As part of the site update, I think I'll be changing the blog a wee bit, the structure is still part of the old Blogger design, so hopefully I can change it without too much hassle and maybe add some sort of categories to the drawings.

Site version 9

-
This, bar some tidying up will be the layout of the new site, I'll add some more geek tweaks, but apart from that, hopefully I can make it live soon. It's taken a long while and a lot of mapping out to become a simple as anything design, not far off what I had 6 years ago. I think I have OCD though, so the constant changing is probably why it's taken so long.
It's completely in Flash and xml. so hopefully I will never have to update the design ever again, just the content and this blog. Then possibly I could do some real work.

The Drunken Sword

Mostly boozing samurai master unleashing his drunken fury, dicing his enemies like chicken. Done a wee bit photoshop on this one, but not much, it's hard sometimes to not overdo the shading with watercolours.

Packed full of comic greatness. I love his machinery it's really detailed and tweaked out.
