The wonky arm is freaking me out a bit. Or maybe I've had too much coffee, maybe the head is the wrong way. I dunno. As I mentioned hadn't been doing too many characters lately so need to get back to em!

Iain Laurie {The Void}

-
This is a drawing by Ian Laurie, I've mentioned him before on here, he has a new blog now. He draws some pretty bugged out stuff, mixing super hero comics with everyday weirdness, with some darkened humour of the funniest.
Over beers and coffees, we have discussed plans for comic books and zines that until now haven't happened for one reason or the other. But over the last wee while, well a day to be precise, we've came up with a story, it's going to be in a genre Ian has labelled 'Swordpunk'.
Obviously this is the early stages, but I'm hoping to get some pages done over the next wee while. Ian is doing the writing as I type so the ball is rolling...
Also check out the Powwkipsie blog too for more of the Laurie!

Hand write type

Tried out YourFonts new online font creator, it's super easy to use, and I made this font in less than an hour. I never tidied it up or anything so it's pretty raw, but works okay with a bit of kerning.

You can Download The Font here (Mediafire).

That program is definitely worth a try if you have a spare bit of time, and if you used it with Fontographer to tidy it up you could definitely make some good typefaces.

CLICKS FOR BIGS
-
I started to make this drawing for something else then made up a story (in my head) of how the group pictured here were demon hunters, put together by a group of neo-christians in a strange future earth. The soldier pictured in the foreground has no beliefs but is driven solely by revenge. He carries a sword as ammunition and guns are scarce. First time I drew a dude with a sword properly since drawing ninja comics as a kid.
The demons are really humans with genetic enhancement gone wrong, who do horrific things because of an imbalance in their system. Folklore has turned them into monsters, much the same as demons of old.
I've definitely been listening to too much comic book podcasts.

Akira Toriyama

-
I really liked the comics by Akira Toriyama, especially Doctor Slump, he draws really cool technical stuff mixed in with the sillyness. He also helped develop Dragonball too.
Here's the opening titles from the anime version Slump, cool tune, I'm definitely going to write 'Launch a bomb of dream into the sky' on a piece.
